Five Children Are Born to a Woman After Ten Years of Waiting for Marriage

Mother of quintuplets in Cross River: On Monday between 10:50 and 10:54 a.m., three girls and two boys weighing between 1.45kg and 1.75kg were born, marking the first quintuplets to be registered at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) in Cross River State. The couple had been married for ten years without having children.

They are in stable condition right now and are housed in the Teaching Hospital’s Special Care Babies Unit.

In addition to visiting the first-time parents with the first-ever delivery, Dr. Linda Ayade, the wife of the governor of Cross River State, joyfully announced a donation of one million Naira to support the family’s needs. “This is a sign of good tidings in the state and country at large and I want to thank the new mother for opting for professional services of birth attendants,” she said.

In addition to giving the couples donations, Dr. Ayade offered the medical professionals who helped the mother deliver the infants safely an additional 500,000 Naira.

“In This Recession” The delighted father of the quintuplets, Dr. Ekpo Edet, expressed gratitude to God for hearing his ten-year prayer, saying that only God could have accomplished it. “I want to thank God almighty. He is a faithful God. For the first time in the history of Cross River State, the first time in the history of UCTH, five at a go.”

“It is the second phase and I know it is not going to be easy, but I solicit support from all well-meaning Nigerians. All my friends and well-wishers in taking care of them in this recession,” the children’s father said. “God has just been faithful,” he added. “The doctors have confirmed that the babies are kicking.”

Along with Dr. Ayade, the State Commissioner for Health donated an incubator machine to the hospital on behalf of the Cross River State Government. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, congratulated the father of the babies for his steadfastness during the pregnancy, given the length of the couple’s wait.
